Volunteer Support Group Coordinator

Would you be interested in volunteering your services for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren?

With over 6,000 members across the country Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ rely on volunteer Support Group Coordinators to provide hands on support, information and advocacy in addition to running regular support groups for members to get that peer support that is so valuable when sharing their experiences and accumulated knowledge.

Currently we are seeking Support Group Coordinators in the following areas:

Waitakere, Mangere, Te Awamutu, Taupo, Whanganui, Taumarunui

5/3/2026 - GRG is currently recruiting for four (4) new board trustees. 

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust NZ (GRG) is a dedicated organisation supporting grandparents and whānau/kin caregivers across Aotearoa. Our kaupapa is to raise resilient and healthy tamariki by supporting grandparent and whānau caregivers who take on their care. GRG provides free services to empower grandparent and whānau carers, offering information, advice, support, and advocacy tailored to their unique needs. Our goal is to foster a thriving community where caregivers receive the help they need to provide a nurturing environment for children. Join us in making a meaningful difference to the lives of whānau across the country. 

Role Description: 
 
As a Board Trustee at GRG, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and governance of the organisation. Our board members are passionate and dedicated ambassadors of the mahi GRG does in the community. Due to the retirement of a few long-term board trustees and a desire to expand our diversity, we are seeking to appoint four (4) new trustees.  
 
Our ideal candidates must be values led and be aligned with GRG values and can help advance our mission. 
 
Skill Set: 
 
Strong governance experience with knowledge of the not-for-profit sector 
A commitment to respecting, understanding and applying continued learning of Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
Commitment to equity 
Diverse networks in community, business and government sectors 
Specifically, we are also looking for individuals with the following expertise: 
- Chartered Accountant  
- Legal  
- Brand, Marketing and Communication skills 

Commitment: 
Bimonthly board meetings, alternated with bimonthly subcommittee meetings with approximately 2- 3 hours required per month. Additionally, there would be attendance at our annual National Volunteer whānaunga wānanga held over two days and an annual full day Board strategy & planning session. 
 
Term: 
Two years with the opportunity to reapply 
 
Location: 
Anywhere within Aotearoa. Most meetings are online with 2-3 meetings a year face to face in Auckland.  
 
Remuneration: 
Meeting and event travel expenses only, as agreed.
