Empowering Grandparent and Whānau Caregivers

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren NZ is a community of people walking the same path, experiencing the same sorrow, joy and challenges that the role as grandparent and whānau caregiver brings, and our Local Support Coordinators are a key part of our integrated approach to supporting thousands of grandparent and whānau /kin caregivers nationwide.

These dedicated and committed Local GRG Support Coordinators are all volunteers experienced in the issues involved in raising grandchildren or someone else's child/tamariki.

In their communities some GRG Support Groups host regular meetings providing members with greater fellowship, whānau outings and events, learning, workshops, support and access to timely and useful information and advice.

For some, the Local GRG Support Coordinator provides both telephone and direct support to members regarding their particular issues.

Some groups operate more informally as coffee groups. Ultimately the groups are there to provide support and the realisation that you are not alone and there are others who can help you on your path.
