Laurie Porima - Trustee
Laurie’s iwi affiliations are Ngāti Manawa, Ngāti Hikairo, Waikato, Ngai Tuhoe, and Ngāpuhi. He was raised by his grandparents and he has a keen interest in the role grandparents play in raising grandchildren including from a tikanga Māori perspective. Laurie is an independent Māori evaluation and research specialist worked in a range of economic, educational, policy and social service sectors. He is also an IOD trained Director providing governance, management, outcomes and strategic planning training and advice to Iwi, Māori health services (Hauora), Social Services, Kōhanga Reo and Kura Kaupapa Māori.
In addition to his research and evaluation work, Laurie currently sits on a number of governance boards, both commercial and not-for-profit. These include: Chairman of the Moewhare Marae Trust Board, Trustee for Te Runanga o Ngāti Manawa, Director for the Central North Island Iwi Holdings Limited (CNIIHL); Director on Manawa Developments Holdings Company, Te Hononga (Joint commercial and social housing property investments between Ngāti Manawa and Ngāti Whakaue in Rotorua and Tauranga).
